IMPROVING
YOUR LUTEAL PHASE
Your luteal phase is the time from when you ovulate
to the time your period arrives. A normal luteal phase can last
between 10 days to 17 days. The optimum being more than 12 days. If
your luteal phase is less that ten, this is called a luteal phase
defect.
During your luteal phase, a fertilized egg
starts in journey down the fallopian tube into the uterus to become
implanted. If your luteal phase is short and your lining begins to
break down too soon, an early miscarriage is likely to occur.
Low progesterone levels post ovulation can be one
of the culprits of an LPD. If you were to undergo Fertility testing,
your doctor can check your levels to determine if this is the case.
Low FSH levels can also cause a luteal phase defect.
Some women have been successful in lengthening
their LP by the use of Progesterone Creams and vitamin B6. Your doctor
may prescribe Clomid alone or followed by Progesterone suppositories
in the LP.
