About Ovusoft

I am 36 years old with three daughters. My husband had a vasectomy reversal December 16, 2000.  Dear hubby's Semen Analysis revealed a normal count, slightly below normal motility and good morphology.  My OB/GYN said I am healthy and my lining looks good, tubes look clear via transvaginal ultrasound.

November Update: (Ended in miscarriage)
I am sorry I haven't been updating my diary. I have been really busy moving into my new home. Well the update is that I am now 6 weeks pregnant! Estimated Due Date July 7th, 2002.

What I did different this month:
1 baby aspirin a day. (second cycle)
1 50mg of B-6 2X a day.
We BD'd every other day until O. We BD'd the day before O and the day of and after O.

March 2002 Update: Unfortunately I lost the baby at 12 weeks. 2 days before Christmas. I am just now starting to try to conceive again.  It was very hard. There were no chromosomal abnormalities. MY OB told me that chances of a miscarriage are 1 in 4. I have three healthy children and odds were against me that I would eventually experience a miscarriage. I am afraid it will happen again, however she told me my chances were 75% that I would carry to term.

TYPICAL CYLCE

Day 1: August 8, 2001

The first phase of the menstrual cycle is the follicular stage. This is the time when the egg is ripening for ovulation. The follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)  is a hormone that regulates the growth and development of eggs in women.  FSH is required for ripening of the follicle, and estrogen production.

Menstruation is caused by the shedding of the endometrium (uterine lining). When the egg from the last cycle is not fertilized,  estrogen and progesterone levels drop and menses begins.  I ovulated late in my cycle due to stress prior to when ovulation was supposed to occur. Your Menstrual Cycle

Day 1: Well Aunt Flo came to visit around 10:45pm. Flow is very light and somewhat clotty and mucusy. Mild cramping and diarrhea. I feel a little blue I had a Chemical Pregnancy. This is a very early miscarriage that occurs around the time the menstrual cycle is due or a few days after. What happens is the egg is fertilized and starts to implant and release hCG hormone which will give you a positive on a very sensitive home pregnancy test. Unfortunately implantation does not complete. Almost every woman will experience one or many of these in their fertile years. It is said to happen 40%--50% of the time. Many times you think your period just came late, but you were actually briefly pregnant. The causes range from chromosomal problems or due to a luteal phase defect because of low progesterone or inadequate uterine lining. Here is a great article on Chemical Pregnancies from Conception-Tips.com In my case, on 10dpo I got a light positive using Confirm Pregnancy Test which reads 25mIU of hCG, on 12 dpo I used a test I bought from LowCostPregnancyTest.com and got a very light positive, on 14dpo, I got another light positive, and 15dpo I got a light positive using Clear Blue Easy The fact that at 15dpo I did not have a dark positive concerned me, but only 30 minutes after I got the last positive AF came.

Did you know that stress or illness can delay ovulation, which in turn will delay the onset of menstruation? That is a very important fact that I recently learned.

Diet and Nutrition: Took Prenatal Vitamins and B-Complex.

If your luteal phase (the phase following ovulation) is normally 13 days, it may occasionally be 12 days or, occasionally 14. Phases less than 10 days can be potentially problematic if a couple is trying to get pregnant.~Toni Weschler Taking Charge of Your Fertility

Day 2: Clots and mucusy in the toilet, feeling tired. Very little blood on the pad. I also have mild nausea. End of the day, flow was very very light.
Diet and Nutrition: Took Prenatal Vitamins and B-Complex.

Clots are a normal part of your menstrual cycle.

Day 3: Very little dark brown spotting.
Diet and Nutrition: Took Prenatal Vitamins and B-Complex.

Day 4: Bright red spotting off and on.

I had a OB/GYN appointment today. Doctor said not to worry about the chemical pregnancy affecting my fertility, that it happens in 50% of all early pregnancies. Women can have this several times when trying to conceive. Since my lining measured just right that he did not think it was a problem with my lining but with chromosomal abnormalities from the embryo not completely dividing and that it happens so often. Many women think they are late for their periods and are actually briefly pregnant. He did a transvaginal ultra sound and didn't seem to think we need to do any further testing for a while.  I asked if my age of 35 was a problem and he said no.

He said that 2tsp. Robitussin 3x and Evening Primrose Oil 1x a day is good for better quality CM and to continue to take a prenatal vitamin and B-6. I am also doing am and pm yoga to improve circulation.

Slight ovarian pains. Doctor saw cyst on my ovaries, I said is that bad, he said no, you always get cysts right before and after ovulation.  I wish I had my own little ultra-sound machine, LOL

CPFM: HIGH FERTILITY!

My pituitary gland is secreting follicle-stimulating hormone, this stimulates the development of the ovum. It has not surged yet. When it does surge, there will be an indication that ovulation will take place within 24 hours. Currently there is a rise in Estrogen secretion. The increase of the estrogen level causes my body to build up the uterine lining in preparation for the implantation by a fertilized ovum. The increase of  estrogen levels are also responsible for the secretion of mucus from the cervix.  I am at the beginning of my fertile period because I have egg white consistency which for me lasts several days. In some women, however, you many only have one day of EWCM. On that day, you should have intercourse. In this type of cervical mucus sperm can live in for up to 5 days, but most likely 3 days. It is important to track your temperatures and cm to see when you are truly fertile. I have to say the ClearPlan Fertility Monitor is worth it's weight in gold.

Day 13: EWCM, low back pain, mild nausea.

BD'd at 7am, will BD again at 6pm and again at 1am

10am OPK test read Positive

8pm I took 800ml of Motrin, I had  massive migraine and was vomiting. Tylenol wouldn't touch my migraine. I hope this doesn't hurt my chances of conception.

If  there a union between an egg and a sperm cell, a single, fertilized egg before it begins to divide and grow. This is called a Zygote. Then it begins dividing into identical cells as it makes it's way down the Fallopian tube to the uterus, where it will continue to grow.

I am now in Phase 4, the Luteal Phase.  The luteal phase starts the day after ovulation and will end when my cycle is over.   During the luteal phase the Corpus Luteum* is producing progesterone increasing my temperature.  The Luteal phase usually lasts about the same length of time every month. The average Luteal phase in women is 12-14 day. If your Luteal Phase lasts less than 10 days, you should consult your doctor. This may be considered a Luteal Phase Defect.

Luteal Phase: The stage of the menstrual cycle between the formation of a yellow mass of tissue ( corpus luteum* ) after the release of an ovum and the start of the next period.

*corpus luteum a yellow mass of tissue that forms in part of the ovary after ovulation and secretes the hormone progesterone.  If no pregnancy is established, the corpus luteum degenerates, whereas it continues to secrete the hormone if pregnancy occurs

Day 18:  Sticky CM to dry

Diet and Nutrition: Took Prenatal Vitamins and B-6

Drop in my basal temp down to my coverline. This is odd because this is not typical for me, although my temp spike was not very high and it typically drops the day after the spike. I reviewed a few other charts that had the same thing. So I don't think it is abnormal. All signs indicate that I have already ovulated, but I have a strange feeling that I am not certain. I have had considerable stress the last week due to it being the end of summer, kid's very antsy an school shopping, argh.
Let's see if we get a rise tomorrow.

Implantation can occur as early as 4 days past ovulation, and as late as 12 days. A woman can test as early as 8 days post ovulation, but can take up to 17 dpo to see a positive HPT reading. You will need to use an HPT that reads very low quanitities of hCG, visit our Pregnancy Tests Page to see the sensitivity of various brands.

Some signs of Implantation (not every woman gets these signs):
Cramping or sharp pains
Spotting
Another level in your temperatures; low temps before O, higher temps after O and another level of temps after implantion.

Interesting Study on Implanting found on BabyMed.com

Q: When does the fertilized egg implant into the uterus?
A: The egg becomes fertilized with a sperm within 12 hours after ovulation, usually in the outer portion of the fallopian tube. It then travels down the fallopian tube, increasing it's cell size along the way. In the fallopian tubes it becomes the Zygote and doubles to 2 cells, 4 cells, then 8 cells and becomes the "Morula". As it enters the uterine cavity it's called "Blastocysts".
Implantation happens when the fertilized egg (Blastocysts) attaches to the uterine wall starts producing the pregnancy hormone hCG.

Based on a study published in 1999 (Time of Implantation of the Conceptus and Loss of Pregnancy; Allen J. Wilcox, M.D. et.al. NEJM Volume 340:1796-1799) implantation happens on average 9.1 days after ovulation with a range of 6-12 days. In 84% of pregnancies implantation happened between days 8-10 after ovulation.
There was an increase of miscarriages when implantation happened later:
The rate of early pregnancy loss was 13% when implantation happened by day 9, it rose to 26 percent with implantation on day 10 after ovulation, it rose to 52 percent if implantation was on day 11 after ovulation, and to 82 percent if implantation was later than 11 days after ovulation.

DPO: 7  Will do first HPT in 3 more days, then another, two days later.

Day 26:  CM dry

Areola is larger and breast are fuller. Every so often I get a tingling feeling in my nipples. Areola has little protruding nodules and I have veins protruding. This is odd, I have never had this before, that I have noticed. This morning, I had mild nausea. Later in the afternoon when I shopping with my sister, I felt very very queasy. I had some crackers and it helped a lot. For the last few days I have had increase vaginal moisture.

Well, I have a faint line on a pregnancy test using Confirm, but please don't send congratulations because I had a chemical pregnancy last month and I could have another this month. I won't test again until after I am actually late.  I am encouraged by my temps. I think the B-6 is keeping my progesterone production high. If you view past charts, you will see, that I don't typically go that high with my temperatures.  It looks like I had a implantation dip as well, do you think?

Day 28:  CM moist. At 9:38am this morning, I had a light red spot the size of a pea on my panyliners this morning. I am making this notation at 1:29pm. So far there has been no other spotting. My temps have been holding steady.

I took an HPT this morning I bought at our local Supermarket, King Soopers. It had a light pink line, but not dark, which frightens me. I called the consumer affairs to inquire about the detection of mIU and they are registered to read 100mIU but have been know to read as little as 20mIU, so I don't know if I am miscarrying or if the test just isn't extremely sensitive.  I have a feeling I am going to have yet another chemical pregnancy. I will have to bring this to the attention of my physician.

October 22, 2002 Update: This month I have taken Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) to promote Super Ovulation, meaning releasing more than one egg. I took five 50mg tablets. One a day for five days on cycle days 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Yesterday I had the worst migraine ever. Today I feel very nauseous and my head hurts and twinges of pain in my lower abdomen. (similar to how I normally feel around the time of ovulation, but a bit more intense). My Clear Plan Fertility Monitor reads high fertility however I don't have much cervical fluids. I called my physician and requested Guaifenesin tablets to thin cervical mucus. Two cycles ago, I conceived but miscarried at 5 1/2 weeks. It was a failed implant. My husband took plain Robitussin which will improve sperm mobility.

2tsp Robitussin every 4 hours.

cd14 still high fertility, however ovulating kit says positive in the pm

cd 15 hi fert. Morning Kit, bottom line darker than top lne. Evening Ovulatory pain.

cd 16 fertility monitor reads Peak fertility. Major Ovulatory pain, have to lay down. Hard to do any house work. Nipples hurt so bad, I want to cry, LOL

   2 Week Wait

cd 17 very gassy, nipple pain. Still Crampy. Slight EW in the AM

cd 18 creamy to No Cervical Fluids. No symtoms. Sore Nipples. apparently from research, the sore nipples are a side effect from Clomid.

CD 19: Totally dry cm. Nipples still totally sore.  TCOF chart tells me that I am 4 dpo due to the thermal shift, but I am not certain. I kind of think My fertility monitor gave me a wrong reading on CD 15. I looked at the stick and it looked to me like it should have said Peak Fertility. I used a regular O detection stick on CD 14 and it was definitely positive with a darker test line than the control line. Well we will know for sure in about 6 days when I can test. I think since the nipple soreness started on CD 16, then I am going to take a guess and say I probably O'd on CD 15 since it is a post O symptom.

CD20: Temps are starting to rise nicely

I feel terribly nauseous this morning. My oldest daughter dropped a quart of milk (the kind that is delivered in a glass container) and I had to clean it up or she would be late for school. Starting the day cleaning up spills is not the best way to start the day especially when my progesterone levels are rising and I am already moody from taking the Clomid this month. No use crying over spilled milk, LOL.

I hate the 2WW!!!!

CD21 Temps going up up up! Progesterone must be working my temp up (I hope). Sore BBs, but all in all, just any normal day.

4pm. Crampy

CD27 Temps dropped significantly :-(. Aunt Flo should be knocking on my door in a couple of days. I have a bit of cramping off and on, I've had 3 negative pg tests, so I don't think this is the month. Plus I am as grumpy as all get out, LOL
